Want your kitchen to keep its shine for years? Proper care and maintenance of your cabinets and countertops help prevent wear, stains and damage.
Here are our tips for everyday care.
Kitchen Cabinet Maintenance
Regular Cleaning
Regular cleaning helps keep your cabinets spotless and in perfect condition over time. By adopting a few simple habits, you can prevent dirt buildup and make daily cleaning easier.
- Regularly clean surfaces (doors, facades, finishing panels) with a soft, damp cloth.
- Use a gentle soap (such as dish soap) and always wipe with a clean, dry cloth.
- For greasy or oily stains, clean them quickly with diluted mild soap in hot water, then dry immediately.
Products and Practices to Avoid
Certain products and habits can damage the finish of your cabinets and shorten their lifespan. To avoid deterioration, here’s what you should steer clear of:
- Abrasive cleaners, concentrated cleaners, solvents, and products containing silicone or wax.
- Abrasive pads or steel wool, which can scratch the surface.
- Leaving a damp cloth in prolonged contact with the facades and drawers.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.
- Excess moisture, such as leaving large amounts of water after mopping the floors. Water could seep under the cabinet boxes or accumulate at the bottom of the doors, affecting the finish over time.
- Proximity to a self-cleaning oven when in use, as the heat can damage the finish (it’s best to move the oven forward).
Laminate Countertop Maintenance
Laminate countertops are known for their durability and ease of maintenance. To keep them in good condition, clean them regularly with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap or a non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid products containing solvents or abrasive agents, as they can dull the surface.
It’s important not to let water sit, especially near the seams, as moisture can seep under the surface and cause the material to swell. After cleaning, always dry the countertop with a clean cloth to prevent moisture buildup. To prevent marks and premature wear, use a cutting board and place a trivet under hot pots and pans.
Maintenance of Quartz, Granite, Lapitec, and Graniroc Marble Countertops
Cleaning and Precautions
To preserve the shine and durability of your natural stone or quartz countertop, clean it with a product specifically designed for these types of surfaces.
Always use trivets under hot pots and pans to avoid thermal shock or marks on the surface.
Although these materials are durable, it’s best to use a cutting board rather than cutting directly on the countertop to avoid scratches and ensure its longevity.
What the Warranty Does Not Cover
The countertop warranty covers manufacturing and installation defects only. It does not apply to damage caused by everyday use, including:
- Normal wear (scratches, water stains, burns, chips)
- Failure to follow maintenance instructions
- Any modification or movement of the countertop after initial installation
Stone countertops are covered by a 1-year warranty from the installation date.
